Scotland #2: Netherlands
After our stop in Cologne the next goal was to catch the ferry in Amsterdam.\ Having watched a lot of Not just Bikes videos about walk-able and generally livable cities (for example this one) we, or primarily Frieder, were curious if the difference is noticeable straight away.
Utrecht
On our way to Amsterdam we only wanted to do a quick coffee break in Utrecht.
The view while we had our coffee was so inviting that we decided to follow the gracht to see a little bit more of the city’s beauty.\ Along the gracht there were several inviting cafés and stores that we dared to enter.\ One raincoat and two board games later we arrived in the heart of the city where we took a look at the cathedral tower and saw the famous rabbits of Dick Bruna.
On the back back to the car there was one bicycle infrastructure highlight that I just want to put here because we’ve never seen it before:
After our pleasant stop in Utrecht we continued our journey to Amsterdam.
Amsterdam
Due to our somewhat lengthy stay in Utrecht we arrived quite late in Amsterdam, but were immediately greeted with a beautiful view from our hotel room.
Feeling quite hungry we went out to eat some local specialties and later explored the city a little bit. After strolling along some of the canals we visited the famous red light district.
The next day we still had a few hours so we visited by chance a local foot market before heading to the ferry.
Next stop Great Britain!
